Hampshire County Council has confirmed that the 30mph speed limit on the B3354 Winchester Road in Fair Oak will be extended by 146 meters north of its junction with Hill Close. This change is part of a series of updates aimed at improving road safety in the area.
Key Changes to Speed Limits
The extended 30mph speed limit will affect the section of road north of Hill Close, while the 40mph speed limit on the same road, located south of Fisher’s Pond, will also be reduced.
Specifically, the speed limit will be lowered between a point 226 meters north of its junction with Nobs Crook and a point 146 meters north of its junction with Hill Close in Crowdhill.
When Will the Changes Take Effect?
The new speed limits will come into force on Friday, May 23. These adjustments come after a consultation with the Chief Officer of Police and a decision to revoke and re-instate previous speed limit orders in the area.
The extension of the 30mph limit and reduction in the 40mph speed limit are expected to improve safety for both drivers and pedestrians in Fair Oak. These changes follow a detailed consultation process and will be implemented in May to ensure smoother and safer travel on the B3354 Winchester Road.
